Originally a project manager for a shipping company specializing in the film and television industry, Darren has been fortunate and travelled the world. His West End debut was in Dreams at The London Palladium in 1994. He then worked as both a performer and part of the production team in: Curtain Up; Applause, Applause; Smash; and Star Track, all at The London Palladium. In 1997 Darren co-produced Hollywood Dreams, at the RSC Swan Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon and at Her Majesty’s Theatre.

 

He set up Star EFX later that year and staged his first solo production, Each Moment, at Her Majesty’s Theatre in May 1998. Darren has since co-produced and directed The Dream – Our Time Is Now; Our Dream – This Moment in Time; and Sunday Night Variety at the London Palladium. The Sunday Night Live series of variety shows began in January 2000, and Darren has co-produced thirty performances at the prestigious London Palladium, Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, The Palace Theatre, and Her Majesty’s Theatre, Haymarket. The highlight of Darren’s career too date came in February 2008, when he was asked to work with Gillian Lynne (Cats / Phantom of The Opera) at Her Majesty’s Theatre on a show starring Andrew Lloyd Webber, Jonathan Pryce, Elaine Paige, Sally Anne Howes, and an endless list of illustrious performers.

 

Star EFX launched the Showtime Academy theatre school in Hertfordshire in 1999, and Darren now runs the South-East Academy operation in Sunbury on Thames, Surrey. Some of Darren’s regional production credits include: Grease, Bugsy Malone, Oliver!, Fame – The Musical, Disco Inferno, Little Shop of Horrors, Calamity Jane, Back To The 80’s, and Disney’s High School Musical.
